Playtech Seals Deal with CasinoSolverde for Portuguese Expansion

Online gambling technology powerhouse Playtech today announced a long-term deal with Portuguese casino operator CasinoSolverde.pt.

The recently landed agreement would increase Playtech’s presence in the regulated online gambling market of Portugal and would provide the technology and content supplier with greater exposure through its work with one of the major players in the local gaming space.

Under the terms of the deal, Playtech’s IMS player management platform would power CasinoSolverde’s online gambling operation as its core platform. As a result, the online casino will be able to roll out games by the major gambling provider and to take advantage of its data-driven tools and capabilities in a bid to boost its performance and profitability by providing its gambling customers with enhanced experience.

The announcement about CasinoSolverde opting for Playtech’s platform comes shortly after news emerged that the online casino would go live with the full library of gaming titles of developer and supplier iSoftBet.

CasinoSolverde entered the Portuguese online gambling market in September 2017 when it was granted a license by the local regulator – Serviços de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos. The operator holds one of the 18 licenses issued so far by the government agency under the country’s new gambling regime.

Portugal reorganized its gambling market in 2015 and first regulated operations commenced in the nation a year later. Despite the high tax rates, including an 8%-16% tax on sports betting turnover, it could be said that the local market has managed to attract some major industry players.

However, the industry is still lobbying for a revised tax system, and lawmakers indicated this past fall that they might finally be ready to reconsider the current regime.
